He has graduated Study of Quality Management at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava in 1999. He has received scientific degree of Ph.D. within the graduant  study at the Department of material forming in 2005, when having defended thesis: Thermomechanical processing of rails. Between 2000 – 2002, he has worked as an assistant for science and research in the Materials  technology research center FMME. In 2003,  he has worked as a technician in the Moravian-Silesian  wire works Ostrava. In autumn 2003, he started working as an assistant professor in the Department of material forming, where he has currently lectured and lead the training courses of subjects: Introduction to metal forming, Metal forming, Forming Technology, Production Technology II and Modeling of forming processes. In 2005, he initiated the Laboratory of mathematical modeling of forming processes and heat treatment processes.

Richard Fabík has professionally attended to the areas of rolling and heat steel treatment , the study of structure-forming processes, cold wire drawing and mathematical modeling of forming processes and heat treatment processes. He published over 65 original contributions in journals and proceedings, and 25 disputed research reports. He is an author of chapter in scientific monograph, he prepared script "Forming Technology" (2008). He organized two international seminars on the drawn wire.

Richard Fabík lectures at the Technical University of Ostrava, he supervises  the Bachelor works and dissertations, he has currently 5 students.

Richard Fabík is a member of the Czech Society for New Materials and Technologies, a member of the Wire Association International and a member of the Organizing Committee of the International Conference Metal.
